A spirit level, also known as a bubble level or simply a level, is a tool used to indicate whether a surface is horizontally (level) or vertically (plumb) aligned. It consists of a slightly curved glass tube filled with liquid, with a bubble trapped inside. When the tool is properly aligned, the bubble will rest in the center of two marked lines.
For basic or "basik" models, spirit levels are often made with lightweight, durable materials like aluminum or plastic. They usually feature:
Multiple vials: for measuring both horizontal and vertical levels, with some models also including a 45-degree angle vial.
Clear vial visibility: to easily see the bubble's position, often with magnified or high-contrast markers for precise reading.
Length options: ranging from compact, pocket-sized versions to longer models for larger surfaces.
Shock-absorbing ends: for protection in case of drops.
These are typically used in construction, carpentry, and DIY projects for ensuring straight and accurate alignments.
