Components and Features:

• Base: The base is typically made of hardened steel or cast iron, providing stability during use. Some models feature a magnetic base that can be turned on or off to secure the gauge to metal surfaces, preventing movement during measurements.

• Spindle (Vertical Column): A vertical rod mounted on the base, often equipped with fine adjustment mechanisms to precisely set the desired height. The spindle may have a knurled thumb screw for easy adjustments

• Scriber: Attached to the spindle via an adjustable arm or universal clamp, the scriber is a sharp, hardened steel point used to mark lines on the workpiece. Its position can be adjusted vertically and, in some models, horizontally and at various angles.
