Welding Cup

A welding cup is a component of a welding torch used in various welding processes, such as Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW or TIG) and Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW or MIG). Its primary function is to direct the flow of shielding gas to the welding area, protecting the weld pool from atmospheric contamination (e.g., oxygen, nitrogen) and ensuring a high-quality weld.

   • Typically made of heat-resistant materials like ceramic, aluminum oxide, or high-strength plastics.
   • Some welding cups are made of glass for better visibility of the welding area during TIG welding.

   • Cylindrical or conical in shape with an open end through which the welding wire or electrode protrudes.
   • Comes in different diameters to control the flow rate and coverage area of the shielding gas.

3. Compatibility:

   • Available in various sizes and thread types to fit specific torch models or processes.

   • Standard cups: Used for general applications.
   • Gas lens cups: Provide a more stable and laminar gas flow, commonly used in TIG welding for precision work.

Maintenance and Replacement:
